For years, homeowners with slate roofs were told solar wasn’t possible — many installers wouldn’t take on slate for fear of cracking it. Solar Slate Solutions set out to change that. We make the patented SlatePlate™ mounting system and install the slate mounting, working alongside your solar installer, who handles the panels, electrical, and permitting.

Why we exist
Founded to make solar on slate possible.
Solar Slate Solutions was founded in 2015 to solve a real problem: homeowners wanted solar on their slate roofs, but many installers wouldn’t touch slate for fear of cracking it. So we invented and patented the SlatePlate — a mounting system designed to put solar on slate without removing or loading the tiles.

Wind-driven-rain tested to 110 MPH for water-tightness
SlatePlate passed rigorous TAS 100(A) wind-driven-rain testing at speeds up to 110 MPH, certified by Intertek — a third-party test of the weather-facing interface. This validates water-tightness (weather resistance), not structural or wind-uplift load capacity.
